Yacht Haven Grande

Once upon a time, between downtown Charlotte Amalie and Havensight, there was a pink hotel named Ramada Yachthaven. Now this was just an ordinary old pink hotel that also had docks and a marina and a restaurant with a big red lobster on the roof. People and boats went there, but not as much as they would have liked.

Then, a big girl named Marilyn came by and completely wiped out the docks and hotel. She blew her heavy winds and rains until roofs and walls were gone. Until boats were up in the street or lying on the bottom. She was not kind to Ramada Yachthaven, and the people of St. Thomas were not happy with how it looked for the many following years.

Because the pink hotel had been destroyed and no efforts were made to restore the pink hotel, it was renamed "Rathaven." Rathaven thrived in this new existence of squatters and crime and just plain old looking ugly. It was not a pretty site, yet it sat right there for everyone to see.

Finally, just before hope of recovery was completely faded away, along came Yacht Haven Grande. YHG destroyed the evil and ugly Rathaven and built a new palace of stores and office space and restaurants and outdoor pleasures and entertainment. The people were initially worried aboiut YHG, but now that Rathaven is gone and the new palace is open for all to visit, YHG is embraced again with more love than the original Ramada ever received.

I highly suggest that you take the time to stroll these beautiful grounds, eat at the restaurants, do some shopping, stare at the incredible yachts, go for the entertainment of music and food fairs and special parties. YHG is a wonderful place and you will not be disappointed.
