Sirenusa Poisoning Follow Up

Well, I don't know much about the current status of this tragedy, but I do know a little bit. Here is the most recent news update from CNN:

The two boys are still in comas. The father in conscious, but still not good. The mother is the best in comparison to the rest of the family. This just really weighs on me.

So you will see that it appears this chemical has been used at other places in the past. That is not surprising. But when I think back, what is most surprising is why one unit in a condo was treated, without closing down the entire building at Sirenusa. It appears this was done in the past at other condo complexes, but when the entire place was closed down. So why was the upper unit still being leased while the lower unit was treated?

Another question is how did the VI not know that these chemicals were being used? Apparently widespread usage, as well? Obviously, this chemical never should have entered the territory, and there should be some sort of oversight over the companies that used this for treatments.

This is one situation that will have long lasting effects. Very unfortunately for the family that was affected. But also in how the USVI moves forward to prevent this from happening ever again.

My best to the family, you are not forgotten in all of this.
