Tree Climbing with a Machete in Mouth

I love my landscaper. His name is Alfred Berry, his wife is Kelly, and they do a wonderful job on many of the properties we manage. Not to mention that they are great people on a personal level. This is not meant to say I am not extremely happy with another landscaper I use, which is Ricky LaPlace. Ricky is also great. But I am not here to talk about them as much as I am about one of Alfred's guys.

Let's just call him tree climbing, machete wielding, cigarette smoking, cell phone talking man. That's the short version, at least. This guy recently climbed straight up the trunk of a huge turpentine tree to help get all the vines off the top and clean up some branches. I wasn't home, but a buddy was staying over and was in disbelief. As soon as I got home later that night, it was all my friend could talk about. This guy climbs straight up the tree with a machete in his mouth. Wacks away at huge limbs and vines while dangling from one foot. Stops to answer his cell phone and smoke a butt or two. Incredibly impressive he said, but also likely to die sometime soon if he keeps this up.

Well, I gave Alfred's name to another friend who needed some work done at his house. This guy, named Ken (welcome to the island, Ken, and congratulations on your purchase in Tabor and Harmony- awesome spot), was in equal awe. Coming from Reno, Nevada, he was not used to seeing guys climb trees with machetes in their mouth only to clear jungle that seemed impassable hours before. So Ken was nice enough to snap this photo of human climbing entertainment.

I guess the moral of the story is- if you ever need a tree climbing machete wielding helper, just call Alfred Berry. Plan to be home for the entertainment.

Finally, the Feds are looking for Rosemary. What I can't figure out is why this wasn't happening already? I don't know the specifics of how these things work, but my understanding is that the local government needs to request the help of the Feds on this before they will act. Does anyone know if this is the case? Regardless, this should have happened weeks ago.

Apparently fleeing from the territory with millions of dollars, at least that is what the general public understands at this point, doesn't "warrant" quicker action?

Well, maybe now that is in the hands of the Feds, some progress can be made towards finding her and hopefully recouping much of the missing loot. Stand by for more updates- at least I hope to give some.....

I had an encounter with a dynamic couple recently. They are the brains and power behind ISW Studios on St. Thomas. This is a state of the art recording studio for very serious artists, and spares no expense towards giving these clients everything they need to be a Worldwide success. I was extremely impressed not only with them as people, but also of their vision for making St. Thomas, and the Virgin Islands in general, a true destination for artists from around the world.

And The Update Is..............

Nothing. Sorry, absolutely nothing. She has apparently vanished into thin air. Gone for good. To be found? Who knows. Hopefully the authorities will catch up with her eventually, if only so people can learn and understand why things like this happen.

Everything that you have read in the newspapers still appears to be true. Clarification has come on the escrow accounts, and they appear to be emptied. I don't have factual verification on that, but it is the word we have heard as realtors, from sources investigation the matter.

The rumors have turned into understanding and acceptance. But the search goes on.

Not everyone can choose to but a multi million dollar home, or to play golf every Wednesday. Today, on Saturday February 20, 2010, STSA held its annual Swim A Thon. What a great event, it is every year. This is one of the largest fundraisers for the Virgin Islands charity each year and is vitally important to the continuing operation of the pool. The number of swimmers was not as high as I would have liked, but the spirited participation by those that did attend was fantastic. The day was perfect, as the clouds mixed with the sun to keep things cool enough for comfort. The pool looked great. The sponsors were recognized.

As previously stated, we don't know whether Rosemary Sauter of REMAX has stolen escrow monies and run away. What we have learned is that closings have not happened due to escrow monies not being released by Rosemary and REMAX. These funds typically represent deposits made by buyers towards the property they plan to purchase. Regardless of whether the funds are there, it is very clear that her actions have caused a lot of hurt for a lot of people.
